Xiaomi’s New AI-powered Robot Xiaodan Can Teach Kids English

Xiaomi has launched a bunch of smart speakers in China powered by its virtual assistant called Xiao Ai. The company even partnered with Microsoft to integrate the laters China-focused AI Chatbot called Xiaoice. Today, one of the Xiaomi’s subsidiary unveiled a new robot called Xiaodan. With the built-in voice assistant, you can use simple commands to get the job done.

It is a multi-purpose robot which can dance to the tunes or be your smart housekeeper by managing the AI-enabled electronics. The Xiaodan can also teach the kids English, mathematics, and even dance movements. It has 100+ mins of course and 10000+ words to teach English. Apart from teaching, the Xiaodan also has kids specific content that includes 200+ games and 900+ minutes of stories.

It can also be used for taking Quiz test, and the company has mentioned it to have 800+ questions. With the accompanied programming app, the users can also use create customized interactions. The users can also remotely talk with their family members through Xiaodan. With the voice and objection recognition technology, it can hear or see people in the house even from the longer distance.

The listing also mentioned it to intelligently find your location, but we have no idea how it works. With the facial recognition technology, it remembers all the family members and can clearly distinguish each one of them. The company also added separate skills to make the Xiaodan interact more appropriately with the kids.

The Xiaodan comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, camera, microphone, speaker, and PIR sensor. The PIR (passive infrared sensor) sensor is used for motion detection. It can rotate 360-degrees with 0.1-degree accuracy. It is priced at 1999 Yuan (approx $310 / Rs 21,000) and is currently listed on Xioami’s crowdfunding website.
